In honor of Earth Day here’s a round up of my favorite eco-friendly finds for the home. I hope you like these pieces as much as I do!

A Beautifully Re-purposed Vintage Chair

1. Buying vintage furniture is environmentally friendly because vintage doesn’t require any energy or resources to manufacture. And by salvaging and re-purposing old vintage furniture that might otherwise be thrown away, you reduce waste which is definitely better for the environment. This beautiful dining chair was reupholstered using a vintage Kuba cloth which provides an interesting contrast to its French frame $975. Available at Jayson Home & …

I’m searching for a rug for my bedroom and am considering a natural fiber rug such as sisal, seagrass or jute. I know, they’re kind of a ubiquitous fixture in any interior ever shot for a magazine but they do seem very practical. They’re durable, withstand a lot of foot traffic (for the record there will be no major foot traffic in my bedroom!), they’re relatively inexpensive, match just about anything and they look great. Here are a few options I like:

Left: 8x 10 Sisal Wool, $518. Right: 8×10 Seagrass, $346. Both via Sisal Rugs Direct

When I was at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show a few weeks ago I stumbled upon the booth of Pamela Sunday, a former fashion stylist and art director who now makes incredible ceramic sculptures that are inspired by nature and science. She even gives her pieces scientific sounding names such as “atom”, “blastoid” and “sprocket.” The flyer I picked up from her booth says her work often conjures up memories of high school biology lab. I have to admit that when I first saw some of her scupltures, particularly the ones you see above that look like clusters of …

Congratulations is in order for Domino who just garnered its very first National Magazine Awards Nomination! Two in fact! The National Magazine Awards, presented annually by the American Society of Magazine Editors, recognizes excellence in various categories in magazine journalism and publishing. Consider it like the Academy Awards of the magazine publishing world. Domino nabbed a nomination in the Leisure Interest category as well as in the Single Issue category for its March 2007 Green Issue. The awards ceremony takes place May 1st here in New York. Good Luck Domino!

Domino also deserves a pat on the back for its …

I was doing some online shopping over the weekend and discovered that Wisteria has some amazing new items available just in time for spring! The rooms pictured above and below show off many of their newest home furnishings and accessories. I especially love the room above. It’s so my style… a lovely mixing of traditional and ethnic inspired pieces that manage to give off a very modern feel. I really love the indigo blue color featured here as well. I’ve been wanting to inject some color into my apartment’s mostly neutral palette and this room just might be my inspiration …

I was browsing CB2’s website last night and came across this $99 floor lamp that seems to be inspired by design legend Mariano Fortuny.

CB2’s “Photography Floor Lamp”

The authentic Fortuny reflector lamp, created in 1907, sells for $5,000 at DWR and other retailers. As you can see in the photo below, it is BEYOND gorgeous but unfortunately its hefty price tag makes it unattainable for most of us. Although it’s clearly not as stunning as Fortuny’s, the CB2 version isn’t a bad option if you want to achieve the look but don’t have an extra $5K sitting around to …
