A few months before Domino folded I heard some gossip that the magazine had recently shot the home of socialite and fashion PR maven Annelise Peterson. A frequent boldfaced name, Peterson spent years in New York working in the PR offices of top fashion brands such as Calvin Klein, Valentino and Alberta Ferretti before moving to LA to launch her own fashion and lifestyle consulting firm earlier this year. And rumor has it, her West Village apartment designed by Jesse Carrier of Carrier & Company, was to be featured in Domino’s April issue. I was recently perusing Carrier & …
Remember my stylish friend Linda who was featured in the March ’08 issue of Domino? Last weekend I stopped by her place for a visit and brought my camera along so I could give you a peek inside her quirky cool apartment in Chelsea.
Linda has lived in the same building for something for something like 20 years and this her third apartment in the building. Her sunny one bedroom is quite spacious by New York standards. She lives there with her eight year old basset hound, Billy, who you can in the photo above curled up in his …

If you haven’t seen today’s New York Times, check out this article from the cover of today’s Home section which centers around the outcry in the design blogosphere over the loss of our beloved Domino. Since the folding of Domino was announced last week, bloggers and design junkies everywhere have been in mourning. And since it was my favorite magazine ever I couldn’t go without sharing my two cents. So consider this post a eulogy of sorts…
I loved Domino. Seriously. I looked forward to it in my mailbox every month. And sometimes when it would take too long …

I first learned of Windsor Smith after seeing a feature on her LA home in the August ’07 issue of Domino and I immediately became a fan. The opener of the Domino story included a shot of Smith wearing a colorful shirt, white jeans and classic, cognac colored riding boots and I remember thinking to myself, “she looks like a cool chick.” Her choice of outfit seemed to be a mirror reflection of her design style which epitomizes California cool. In a nutshell, Smith takes traditional furnishings and design elements and injects fresh color and interesting patterns to create interiors …
