How to Make New York City’s Best Avocado Toast

One day I walked into a cute little cafe in Chelsea called The Commons to grab a cup of coffee and before I could make my way up to the counter I became entranced by the most delicious looking plate of avocado toast that had just been placed down in front of a couple dining there. It was a serious case of food porn and I was in lust. I wasn’t even hungry but I had to have some so I ordered up a plate of avocado toast for myself and proceeded to enjoy every single mouthwatering bite. Sure, I’d …

Sneak Peek: Hunt Slonem Wallpaper & Carpets

Last month I attended the bi-annual High Point Market which is a huge trade show showcasing the latest products and trends in home decor. During my visit to the Kravet showroom I almost stopped dead in my tracks when I saw an installation of Hunt Slonem Bunnies wallpaper!!! In case you’re not familiar, Hunt Slonem is a contemporary neo-expressionist artist most known for his graphic paintings featuring the outlines of bunnies and parrots. He’s pretty famous and his works cost a pretty penny. A quick search on 1stDibs turns up results of his work currently on the market for as …

Claudette

Yesterday I ate lunch at the most adorable little restaurant in Greenwich Village called Claudette. I’d seen pictures of the space earlier in the summer and have actually been meaning to write about Claudette even before I dined there because it’s just so pretty! Claudette is a Provençal restaurant located just steps from Washington Square Park and is the sister restaurant to another NYC fave, Rosemary’s. The interiors were designed by Dekar Design who wanted the space to feel like a beautiful old world country house in Provence. The interiors are bright and airy featuring hand painted tiles, salvaged …

How to Decorate With Neutrals

It’s no secret that I love decorating with color, but I realize the idea of bold color choices is not one that everyone can embrace. I also don’t subscribe to the belief that beige is always boring. I actually think a room full of neutrals can be just as interesting as any colorful space with the right layers, textures and accents. This series of photos, courtesy of our friends at The Everygirl proves just that! The Everygirl recently collaborated with Interior Define to design two stylish and affordable sofas and I’m especially loving the Rose sofa. It’s a classic, English …

Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice Recipe

Recently I posted a fun pumpkin pie spiced Halloween pancake recipe for which I used a homemade pumpkin spice blend. Most people tend to just buy the pre-mixed pumpkin pie spice mix from the grocery store but it’s actually SO easy to make your own! And despite the misleading name, the recipe doesn’t actually feature any pumpkin at all but it does combine all the aromatic spices that you’d want to include in the perfect pumpkin pie. Below is the recipe I use most often which is always turns out delicious. You can use it for pancakes, waffles, cakes or …
