A Look at Kelly Wearstler’s New Lighting Collection

One of the things I love most about my job is having an opportunity to preview collections before they hit the market and last fall during High Point Market, I got to check out Kelly Wearstler’s impressive new lighting collection for Visual Comfort. Above is a snap from the showroom and now, nearly 9 months later, the pieces are finally available for pre-oder. Like her interior designs, Kelly’s lighting collection is edgy and avant garde with a mix of luxurious materials, organic shapes and sculptural elements. You’ll find an abundance of burnished brass, polished nickel, bronze, quartz, alabaster and beautifully …

Totally Loving: St. Frank Textiles

A couple of years ago I discovered a cool new company called St. Frank which produces beautiful textile art and accessories handcrafted by artisans from developing countries around the world. You’ll find authentic, handmade goods from places such as India, Camaroon, Laos, Mali, Senegal, Turkey, Burkina Faso, Uzbekistan and more. Aside from their products being absolutely beautiful, I find the element of social responsibility as a part of St. Frank’s business model quite admirable. The company’s founder, Christina Bryant, even kept her social mission in mind when considering the company’s name, St. Frank, which pays homage to St. Francis of …

Cocktail Hour: The Parker Palm Springs’ Muddled Lemonade

Aren’t you so glad Summer is finally here?! I’m loving the warmer weather which has me craving cool, refreshing cocktails all day long….because, after all, Summers are meant for day drinking, right?! Today I’m sharing a cocktail recipe courtesy of one of my favorite vacation spots to chillax – the Parker Palm Springs. The Muddled Lemonade
16 oz. cup
1 muddled lemon (about 4 lemon slices)
add ice
2 oz. Citrus Vodka
2 oz. Fresh Squeezed …

Cocoa Almond “Nutella”

If you’re a Nutella lover, you’ll probably know that love for the chocolaty hazlenut spread can sometimes borderline on obsession and once upon a time I was utterly obsessed with Nutella … Until I discovered Trader Joe’s Cocoa Almond Spread which made for an equally delicious and healthier alternative since almonds have less calories, less fat, more protein, more fiber and more calcium than Hazlenuts. Recently I tried my hand at a homemade version of almond “Nutella” and it turned out so delicious so I thought I’d share the recipe here.

I started with 2 cups of raw almonds which …

“Up In The Villa” with Mark D. Sikes at the Kips Bay Showhouse

I was thrilled to learn that my friend Mark D. Sikes was designing a room for the 2015 Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse. Mark is known for his love of blue and white and has even coined a frequently used hashtag #blueandwhiteforever that’s become it’s own thing. So I kind of went into the preview with the expectation of a blue and white themed room but was pleasantly surprised when I stepped into his space to find every inch covered in red checks, stripes and paisleys. Mark says he didn’t want to be too predictable and he definitely succeeded with this …
