Did you guys hear about Alexander Wang’s new furniture collection? He’s teaming up with Italian company Poltrana Frau, known for its luxury leathers, to launch a 4 piece capsule collection that includes, among other things, an $8,800 leather beanbag char and a bar cabinet that costs $18,500. The pieces are all black leather with awesome Milo Baughman-esque brass bases. I’m a huge fan of Wang’s edgy fashion and own several of his pieces but I’m not sure how I feel about his latest venture. As a designer I completely understand the value of handcrafted luxury goods and I also understand furniture is more expensive to produce than clothing but there seems to be a big disconnect with the price points relative to his ready-to-wear and lower priced T by Alexander Wang lines. Nonetheless, the pieces are the perfect reflection of Wang’s edgy, minimal aesthetic. What do you think? Check out a more detailed photo of the beanbag chair and bar cabinet below along with Wang’s office and home interiors…

Welcome back, girl!! Thought you had taken up residence in the DR for the winter.
I also like Wang (don’t own anything though) but that bean bag chair looks soooo uncomfortable. I can’t imagine trying to sit in it for any length of time. And that “bar” is kind of small for the way my friends drink!! And the price point . . . . I can’t even think of numbers like that for furniture, even though I know Italian furniture is primo.
Very cool! Looks comfortable to me! 🙂

I absolutely love these. His style shines through these new pieces, and I must say I envy all who own them. The picture of his Tribeca loft really shows his edgy sense of style that we all know and love!
The bean bag definitely has a unique look to it. I do question how comfortable it is due to its shape and if the quality of the material really matches that extreme price range. Even if money wasn’t an issue for me, I just don’t see myself purchasing that.
