Windsor Smith for Arteriors 6

I’ve been a longtime admirer of designer Windsor Smith’s work so when I heard she was developing a line of lighting in collaboration with Arteriors, I knew I’d love it! The new collection features an assortment of furniture, lighting and decorative accessories that showcase Windsor’s brilliant ability to mix modern and traditional aesthetics. Much of the collection was influenced by classical elements of Greek and Roman design and features a variety of materials and finishes including quartz crystal, marble, resin, antique brass and vintage silver. The collection is available online and through Arteriors showrooms in Los Angeles and Dallas. Below are some beautiful images highlighting key items in the collection along with some anecdotes from Windsor herself! Which piece is your favorite?

“The elegantly shaped cage of the Athena Sconce is inspired by a lady’s vintage drop earring. Instead of a diamond, we fashioned is light as a crystal sphere illuminated from a halogen bulb set above. It’s feminine reflective, mystical and really sexy.” Underneath. the Ellis Bench in moss gray suede and polished brass.

“In this corner, the Octagon Hera chandelier floats over a built-in cabinet we sometimes use as a bar. I love turning the corner to see the chandelier’s reflection perfectly framed in the same mirror as our Larissa Urn, which sits on a console table opposite. Their marriage of classical and modern just feels right.”

The Atlas sconce is faceted like the handsome bezel on a man’s watch proving that lighting truly is the jewelry of a room.” Also pictured, the Pax Side Table, inspired by ancient Greek and Roman columns.

“The Crete Lamp is a simplified play on Greco-Roman laurel wreathes. I love its vintage silver finish with  a modern soft gray oval shade as the perfect balance between old and new. I imagine it used in pairs, bedside in a little girls room, or as I chose to place it, as a lit sculpture on my kitchen counter.”

“The Mercury Sconce is one of those designs that I created for myself, and for my clients’ needs. Trylu “mercurial”, it allows for a changeable light surce by pivoting up, down or side-to-side depending on how you hang it.  Finished in polished nickel, its essence is classically simple and completely modern. Perfect for a stairway to light steps, perfect in a hallway to light walls, perfect in a library over a painting, perfect in so many practical ways. ”

“Our Adonia Sconces cap beautiful twisted horn shapes lacquered in white with vintage brass detailing at each end. It’s that small touch of contrasting material that emphasizes its sensuous curves and high -gloss finish. Topped with a simple half shade in soft gray, this light is understatedly glamorous.”

  1. All those lamps are gorgeous! I like the Octagon Hera chandelier the most. It’s simply and modern. I like also the Creta Lamp inspired by laurel wreath – I love classical form in a new style. And those caps with twisted horns are interesting and funny! I wish to have them in my house… Greetings

  2. My favorite piece is those horn shape lamps. They look super glamorous with a decent selection of colors. Look like a fish trying to swim in the middle of sea!

  3. OMG those twisted horn lights are to die for. Lights are often overlooked to a room but create such a huge impact!
