I have written about and attended Housing Works‘ annual Design on a Dime fundraiser since I started this blog back in 2008. It truly is one of my favorite design industry events. I am so honored to have the opportunity to design a room for the second year in a row and this year is extra special because it marks the event’s 10 year anniversary! In case you’re not familiar, Design on a Dime brings together 50+ top interior designers who create beautiful room vignettes and all of the furniture and accessories are sold at a discount with all proceeds benefitting the charity’s housing, medical, prevention and support services for New Yorkers living with HIV and AIDS. This year I’m teaming up with Ethan Allen who is generously donating $25,000 worth of fabulous furniture for my room vignette! I had the opportunity to go to the massive Ethan Allen warehouse in Connecticut and have a field day curating a selection of items for my room! I was also able to sift through their fabric library to choose fabrics for some custom throw pillows so I promise you there will be some great items up for grabs! Above is a sneak peek at some of the fabulous pieces that will be for sale! You can purchase tickets to the opening night which is this Thursday, April 24, 2014 to have the chance at first dibs on the best pieces. And trust me, the good stuff goes fast! After opening night, the event is completely free and open to the public on April 25th & 26th and my friends at Ethan Allen will be replenishing my vignette space with even more furniture to be sold during the public days! The opening night event is nearly sold out but if you’re interested in purchasing tickets you can do so here.
One of the Design on a Dime’s premiere sponsors is Valspar Paint who is generously providing their newest line of Valspar Reserve premium paint for all of us designers to use in our rooms! When I’m working on these kinds of events, I love to really have fun with color and try things that I wouldn’t necessarily have the courage to do at home or the freedom to do in a client’s home so for my paint color this year I went BOLD! I wanted to create the ultimate girly girl space fit for fashionista living the Sex & The City life in New York so naturally, I chose PINK! It’s a vibrant shade called Sweety Pie which you can see above paired with some of the Ethan Allen fabrics that will be featured in my vignette. We begin our room installations tonight so I’m so excited to see this color up on the walls! Be sure to follow me on Instagram for sneak peeks of the process and I can’t wait to reveal the final space later this week! Stay tuned for more!
Here are the Ethan Allen products featured in the sneak peek above:
