This weekend I’m finally going to check out the Punk exhibit at The Met which everyone has been buzzing about since it opened in May. For the non-New Yorkers reading, the Spring 2013 exhibit at the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art explores the influence of punk culture on fashion from the early 70s through today as well as the designers who helped define the punk look. Think descostructed garments with spikes, studs, saftey pins, chains, zippers…you get the drift. Inspired by this unique and edgy style, here are some picks for your home that channel the spirit of punk culture:
1. Malibu Chair / 2. Vintage Lion Skull /3. Mulholland Tray /4. Stone Carving of a Medusa’s Head Giclée Print /5. Metal Strap Side Table /6. Deconstructed French Napoleonic Chair / 7. Souffle Chair / 8. Gold Leaf Boxes / 9. Snake Chain Dove Pillow / 10. Black Sun Mirror / 11. Vintage Metal Trunk / 12. Eskayel Round Ottoman / 13. Union Jack Pillow / 14. Faux Pony Tray / 15. Mysticism Soho Sofa in Indigo / 16. Winchester Shotgun Lamp
PUNK: Chaos to Couture is on view through August 14th. For more information, visit MetMuseum.org
