If you haven’t seen today’s New York Times, check out this article from the cover of today’s Home section which centers around the outcry in the design blogosphere over the loss of our beloved Domino. Since the folding of Domino was announced last week, bloggers and design junkies everywhere have been in mourning. Some blogs, such as AphroChic, are waging a public campaign to urge readers to write to Conde Nast demanding Domino’s return. In the past week, new blogs such as We Love Domino and Save Domino have popped up as a tribute to the now defunct magazine. I work in PR in the fashion industry and keep a close ear to what’s happening in the publishing world. I can’t recall any other magazine that has folded in recent years with readers as passionate as Domino’s who have made such public expressions of disappointment over its loss. Above is Deborah Needleman who was photographed for New York Times piece. I’m sure we’ll see more of her again soon and I personally can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve next. Hopefully she’s cooking up some new design related project that will fill the void left behind in the hearts of Domino lovers around the world. Check out the NYT article here and let me know what you think.

PS-Congrats to Apartment Therapy, Decorno, Design Sponge and I Suwannee who were all mentioned in the article!

  1. Thank you so much for mentioning AphroChic’s campaign. My hope is that we if we make enough noise, Domino can be saved, or at least something like it will come in its place. We absolutely cannot lose a publication that has connected with so many young women. It was more than a magazine, it was a lifestyle.

  2. Loosing Domino is a disappointment so many of us share. I do wish they would keep the WEB site up. …small cost associated with that
