The Shore Club Lobby

Hi! Sorry for the lack of posts recently. I’ve been crazy busy with work and traveling a ton. Just got back from a business trip to Miami and while I was there I stayed at the Shore Club. It was my first time staying there and I have to say I was not pleased to say the least. The service was horrible and the place felt like party central 24/7. I’ve never seen such a scene. I mean, I had to walk through Nobu to get to the guest elevators! And throughout the entire hotel you can hear loud thumping music at all hours which was especially annoying at night when I was trying to sleep. Plus everything in the place was ridiculously overpriced. I wasn’t really impressed on the design front either. The rooms are quite austere with cold concrete floors and the beds are hard as a rock. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind concrete floors…I actually think the polished concrete floors in the hotel’s lobby are quite nice but the floors in the guest hallways and in the rooms sort of remind me of a prison cell. Nonetheless, there were a couple of noteworthy spaces in the hotel such as the very cool Tim Andreas designed lobby pictured above. I also loved some of the ethnic textiles that I saw on the outdoor furniture in the pool area and at the Skybar. Below are a couple of photos. If you’re ever planning a trip to Miami I wouldn’t recommend staying at the Shore Club. Instead stay someplace quiet and luxurious like the Setai which is right next door. You could always hit the Shore Club at night if you’re looking for a scene.
